Altcoin Spotlight: What is FARTCOIN?
The cryptocurrency world is rife with projects which are useless to the conscious investor, though they can be fun to participate in. Though the situation has trained drastically since the first time we mentioned Dogecoin on our blog, we still stick by the fact that DOGE is one of these products.
Now, there is a new contender on the scene, one that may be even more useless than DOGE, which at least has its fame going for it now. Keep reading to learn more.
What is Fartcoin?
Fartcoin is a memecoin, a simple store of value that is based on a meme. While Dogecoin originated from a meme of a Shiba Inu dog, Fartcoin is built on the basis of fart jokes or fart memes.
It is unclear exactly what brought this memecoin about, but there are already many jokes about the “gas-fees” which is a term used for the fee used to execute any cryptocurrency transaction, fart jokes aside.
How Does Fartcoin Work?
Fartcoin is a fairly simple store of value. Anyone interested in using Fartcoin, only needs to submit a fart joke or fart meme in order to claim initial tokens. It is a peer-to-peer transaction system, meaning it is just used to send value from one individual to another.
Fartcoin was initially launched on the Solana platform, though there are rumors it is compatible as an ERC-20 token with the Ethereum blockchain. When a fart joke or meme is submitted, the user gets to hear a fart sound when the transaction completes.
Who Created Fartcoin?
During the course of our investigation, it was unclear who created this memecoin. Some forums point to certain Solana users, while others point elsewhere. One thing is clear though, and that is that it was created as a joke, but like many jokes in the meme space, it grew legs and began to walk on its own.
There is some speculation that a Fartcoin is a type of NFT, allowing you to tokenize your fart jokes and fart memes, though we could not confirm this when we evaluated the token.
Should You Buy Fartcoin?
In our opinion, memecoins like Fartcoin should never be purchased. As we mentioned, they are nothing more than gimmicks, which cryptocurrency users to enjoy using for peer-to-peer transactions. In this instance specifically, we do not know who is behind the project and we cannot guarantee its safety or security.
If you want to send money to a fellow cryptocurrency enthusiast, we recommend using Bitcoin over anything else. While DOGE, Shiba Inu and Pepecoin (the other memecoins) tend to suffer wild fluctuations, Bitcoin has shown to hold more steady. Though you may still lose some money depending on how long your transaction takes, Dogecoin and Fartcoin are far more susceptible to these fluctuations than Bitcoin.
Of course, if you just want to have some fun and hear a fart noise, then Fartcoin will fulfill this need. Just be sure not to put any money into this token that you aren’t okay with losing entirely.
What is Surprising About Fartcoin
If you have made it this far, you may be wondering why we have even made an altcoin spotlight about this token. While the altcoin spotlight section of our blog is typically reserved for the altcoins which break into the top 60 positions on CoinMarketCap, Fartcoin hasn’t quite made it there yet.
It did however, make the top 5 for the token growth on April 30th, 2025, something which launched it into our radar and we knew it would be in the radar of other cryptocurrency enthusiasts as well, so we decided to make an altcoin spotlight about it.
Though the details surrounding this token are hazy at best, it does currently have a market capacity of $2.34 billion USD and a single token often costs above $1 USD something which can’t be said for every memecoin (looking at you Shiba Inu) its value is highly volatile and we cannot guarantee it will continue on its upward trajectory.
Where Can You Buy Fartcoin?
Fartcoin is available on most decentralized (DeFi) markets. Because Fartcoin lacks certain security features, and the owners remain undisclosed, it is not available for purchase on centralized exchanges like Coinbase.
As of the writing of this article, you can buy and sell Fartcoin on the following platforms:
· Gate.io
· Kraken
· Bitget
· HTX
· OrangeX
· Orca
· Meteora
· MexC
· Indodax
· Raydium
It is worth noting that most of these websites only allow Fartcoin to be purchased with a stablecoin, usually USDT or SOL, so you will need to convert your fiat on a different platform before using it to buy Fartcoin.
What Can You Do With Fartcoin?
Besides sending some to your friend as a joke, there aren’t really any purposes for this memecoin. It is mostly used as a joke or just for fun.
Alternatives to Fartcoin
We strongly recommend considering the purchase of a different cryptocurrency because of the lack of clarity on the origin and safety of this altcoin. Some of the most common alternatives to Fartcoin have already been listed in this article, but they also include:
· Dogecoin
· Shiba Inu
· Pepecoin
· Flocki
· Bonk
· Trump Coin
· Melania Coin
· Pumpfun
Purchasing any or all of these tokens carries a risk much different than a simple Bitcoin or Ethereum investment. We urge you to consider your investment carefully, and speak to someone you trust who has financial knowledge, prior to placing is.
Will Fartcoin Go to the Moon?
We cannot see the future, but we estimate that Fartcoin will indeed not go to the moon. There is no sustenance behind this token, and we think the position of popular memecoin has already been locked in by Dogecoin (note that we don’t recommend an investment in that either).
Instead, we recommend perusing other options for potential cryptocurrency investments, including (but not limited to) Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Solana, Monero, and Cardano. These are some of the better and more reputable cryptocurrency projects in the industry.
